EWL and Imtech Collaborate to Introduce a Sustainable Cleaning Solution

EWLThe demands of our planet are to produce food and beverages in a more sustainable way. As the world population grows to 8 billion people in the next 20 years, the demand on food, water and energy will jump by 40%. It has been calculated that the “embedded” amount of water to make 1 litre of beer is 74 litres, which is the water required to grow the ingredients including the 4.5 litres of water used in the process. It requires 3.0 litres of water on average to produce 1 litre of Coca Cola. With the increasing costs of energy and inputs, as well as external pressure, all of the large bottlers and brewers have committed to reduce water and energy by between 25 and 30% over the next 5 years. Imtech is cooperating with EWL to enable these customers to meet these published targets.

The company
EWL has been established to commercialize its proprietary Electro Activated Water (ECA) technology globally, in the Bottling, Brewing and Food processing sectors with business partners possessing the sales, marketing , installation, integration and support capabilities within their geographic territories to rapidly enter the market. EWL has over seven years of sales, marketing and installations experience in these industries and uses the most modern technology to continuously improve the efficacy and cost benefit of its ECA technology.

The technology
EWL has proprietary rights to a unique electrochemical reactor that is used to expose water containing small quantities of various natural mineral salts to a high-intensity electrical field. This transforms the water into an environmentally friendly biocide (disinfectant), which is highly effective against the most resistant pathogens and in removing and controlling bio-film, whilst remaining harmless to humans and animals. The biocides generated are either chlorine or chlorine-free depending upon customers’ preference and specific applications.

In a different configuration EWL has developed an adjunct electrochemical system for the treatment of waste water that significantly reduces Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), ammonia and other organic pollutants.

ECA saves customers money as it replaces chemicals, reduces hot water requirements and downtime associated with cleaning and disinfection of plant, equipment and surfaces. The systems are installed onsite and replace the use of conventional chemical products.

The ECA system is automated, modular, reliable and very scalable. It provides a highly effective, economical, and environmentally attractive alternative to the use of industrial chemicals. Consequently, ECA has enormous potential, across a wide range of industry verticals.

Cooperation between EWL and Imtech
EWL and Imtech Industrial Services are collaborating to leverage EWL’s knowledge of ECA technology in the Food, Bottling and Brewing industries with Imtech’s design, build, installation and service network throughout Europe.

We are currently actively pursuing opportunities in a number of breweries, dairies and beverage manufacturing plants throughout Europe

Our added value
Our mission is, to meet your sustainable objectives in terms of reduction of water usage, energy consumption and the use of chemicals for cleaning and disinfection. Our added value is not based on commercialized information but of simple facts. Is your challenge:

Our potential customers have answered these questions positively and now a modern solution can soon be implemented in their production facility.

More information
At this moment, EWL and Imtech are dimensioning proposals for a number of different chloride-free cleaning applications for Bottling & Brewing customers. The response has been most encouraging.
